If you are listening to this podcast, you probably don’t need any convincing that developing a sound mindfulness practice is smart, practical, and even, dare I say, essential. But, maybe you are here for different reasons and have stumbled onto something. Either way, you are in for an eye-opening discussion on the power of the human spirit.
This week's guest is Suzanna Hasnay of PoliceSpirit. She is a retired FBI Supervisory Special Agent with over twenty years of law enforcement experience. But she is cut from a different cloth, not your stereotypical agent with a background in accounting, law, or prior policing experience. She is a dancer. Yes, I said dancer, but even more impressive, a ballerina background.
If you are wondering how a dancer with a background in exercise science and kinesiology wound up working as a Special Agent with the FBI, you’ll just have to tune in and listen. Suzanna has an impressive resume, from working in counterterrorism, crisis management, leadership, and officer resilience training, to becoming a lead instructor in the FBI CIRG Peak Performance Program. She has trained FBI SWAT Teams on mindfulness-based practices for optimal performance and Yoga for the famed hostage rescue team.
At the center of everything she teaches is balance. It is a lesson even a ballerina turned FBI Special Agent, a mountain climber, and a mindfulness coach has to learn. We are all susceptible to stress and overwork. After all, you can’t pirouette without balance.
This is a high-energy episode. Suzanna's lessons and experience to law enforcement is rivaled only by her passion and spirit for helping others.
